Hi, I'll keep revising my list.   But I can give you some ideas...

1.   You can not create text paths in PSE, but you can use the ones that have been created in PS.
2.   You can not create ACTIONS in PSE, but you can use ones that have been specifically made for PSE in PS.
3.   I'll add more! Smiley

You can download a free trial for PS and try it out. I did that after knowing my way around PSE, and felt like it was just too overwhelming and unnecessary for what I want to do. I have no interest in designing and selling my own digital kits. If you think you'd like to try that sometime than you need Photoshop CS2

Quote
Some of the features in Photoshop CS2 that are not included in Photoshop Elements 5 are:

    * CMYK and LAB color modes
    * More tools and features that work with high-bit (16-bit and 32-bit) images
    * Combine multiple exposures to create high dynamic range (HDR) images
    * Channels Palette
    * Recording custom Actions (for batch processing)
    * Adjustments: Color Balance, Match Color
    * Layer Masks, Layer Comps, and Quick Mask mode
    * Smart Objects, Smart Guides
    * Lens Blur Filter
    * Vanishing Point Tool
    * Pen tool and paths palette
    * Some adjustment layers (curves, color balance, selective color, channel mixer)
    * Editing History Log
    * Text on a path, advanced text formatting
    * Advanced Layer Style manipulation
    * Advanced Color Management
    * Advanced Web features and ImageReady (rollovers, slicing)
    * Customizable tool presets, keyboard shortcuts, and menus
    * In the features and tools that are shared, the Photoshop version usually offers more advanced options for fine tuning and control.

Although these features are not natively supported in Photoshop Elements, some of them can be simulated through other tools in Elements (layer masks and quick mask, for example), and some are actually there, but hidden and only accessible through actions created in the full version of Photoshop.

Photoshop Elements also offers some features that are not available in Photoshop such as the cookie cutter tool, drop in frames, backgrounds, and artwork, an automatic red eye removal, Quick Fix mode, and the Photo Organizer. The Photo Organizer (only in the Windows version of Photoshop Elements 3 and up) lets you organize your photos with tags, then search and share them. The Organizer also offers several types of creations for sharing your photos in slide shows, video CDs, cards, email, calendars, Web galleries, and photo books.

Is it an online workshop or IRL? I bet there will be plenty of help for any questions. Still, let us know how it goes.

Hi Karen,
I teach Photoshop classes locally and I will admit that the first time my students start in it they usually feel a bit overwhelmed but if you have a good teacher that understands the magnitude of the program he/she will answer your questions and help you work through the "wow" of it all.

It can be a great program and if you can have training on it that will make you sucessful quicker than going at it on your own.

As Julie Ann has said though, if you don't plan to do a lot of designing, etc you may LIKE elements better Smiley if you don't have either I'd recommend downloading both and trying them out.

If you have questions feel free to ask! Smiley HTH!

I do have PSE and am very happy with it.  I do volunteer work at the local Telecentre and this course is training for the Telecentre.

It's always fun to learn something new - especially with Photoshop Elements so I can imagine if you get the hang of it - you'll be fabulous with PS as well.

You all know those "....for dummies" books?  Is there one for PSE?  I bought the program a few months ago and CANNOT figure it out.  I am too impatient, I guess.  I can go to my studio, not have a CLUE what I want to make and have the thing finished before I can even figure ANYTHING out on PSE.....learner's block, or some such nonsense, I guess...... Cry Roll Eyes Cool

There certainly is - which version do you have? You'll want to get the one that corresponds to your version.
